The Power of Gratitude Journaling: How to Incorporate it into Your Daily Routine

Gratitude is the act of acknowledging and appreciating the good things we have. By focusing on the good things we have we can shift our perspective towards positivity and increase our overall wellbeing. One of the easiest ways to cultivate gratitude is by keeping a gratitude journal!

Start by setting aside a dedicated time each day for your gratitude journaling

Whether it’s first thing in the morning, or before you go to bed at night, choose a time that works best for you and stick to it. This will help you make gratitude journaling a habit and ensure that it becomes a regular part of your daily routine.

Decide on the format of your gratitude journaling

You can choose to write in a traditional journal, use a notebook or even keep a digital journal. The format doesn’t matter as much as the act of writing itself. What’s important is that you make it a habit to reflect on the good things in your life and express gratitude for them.

Start writing! Write something down that you are grateful for

This can be anything, friends, family, the opportunity to go to university or even something as small as having access to a warm shower. Be specific in your sentence. This can help you to focus on the positive and appreciate the good in each day.

Write down why you are grateful

Rather than just listing the reason you are grateful write why you are grateful. This can help you to understand the reasons behind your gratitude and deepen your appreciation for the good things in your life.

Try to really feel your gratitude

Choose just one thing and hold that thought at a deep level until you actually feel gratitude for that very thing. It takes this transformational habit to an even higher level for your studies.

Make it a habit to review your gratitude journal regularly! This can help you to stay focused on the positive and continue to cultivate gratitude in your life.
